THIS IS MY GARDEN – POEM
thick, thorough roots flexing to the spade’s effort
a myriad of vulnerable creatures
exposed to red robin’s excitement
soil turning with sculpted grey stones
each tumbling against its brother’s back
and the crunch of the trowel travelling
fast amongst the grit and gravel
each element coalescing into a single
ecstatic experience
watched on by the tangled mess of briars
long surpassing an old, sun-faded fence
